Meet Dr. Young

Welcome to Untethered Care! I'm Dr. Molly Young (they/them). I am a Licensed Psychologist in Washington and Oregon state as well as a Holistic Sex Therapist. I proudly identify as non-binary, queer, and neurodivergent.

Education

I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and my Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon. My graduate research focused on cultural competence with kinky and non-monogamous communities. I have completed approximately 200 hours of comprehensive advanced training in sex therapy through the Certified Holistic Sex Therapist™ training program at the Institute for Sexuality Education & Enlightenment.

My Approach

I believe in sex-positive, trauma-informed approach to mental and sexual healthcare. I am kink and poly knowledgeable. I am allied with and affirming of 2SLGBTQIA+ and sex worker communities. I utilize interventions from Relational Cultural Therapy, Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. My work is informed heavily by Attachment Theory and Feminist Theory. Therapy with me often looks like a combination of therapeutic support, psychoeducation, tailored tools, and at-home exercises to support you in the process of accessing your erotic and relational self.

Outside of Work

I am happiest when I am writing music, singing, and playing guitar. I love attending live music events including raves and festivals. I can often be found on the hunt for the best diners in the area or simply at home with my cat, Orla. I feel most fulfilled when I am spending time with my people: learning new things, exploring new places, having deep belly laughs, and being comfortably “weird” with each other.
